LEICESTER’S home clash with Scunthorpe on Saturday (7pm) has become a Championship Jubilee League group decider.
The Watling JCB Lions now have qualification for the Final in their own hands – but they need to both win the meeting and also prevent the Scorpions from scoring a group point.
Scunthorpe did score at Redcar on Friday when they went down to a narrow 47-43 defeat – with new signing Anders Rowe collecting ten points at reserve.
That means they top the group table with seven points at this stage, a total the Lions will match if they win tomorrow – but it will only be enough to take them through on race points difference if they win by seven or more points, thus preventing the Scorpions from adding to their total.
Therefore, 49 race points on the night is the target for the Lions as that would make it impossible for the Scorpions to get within the required range.
